It is a pleasure for alt_cph to open the doors for the first Alternative Art Fair in Copenhagen on 22-24 September 2006. The fair will introduce exhibition spaces and galleries that many people may never have visited or heard about before.

alt_cph will be held at the Factory of Art and Design.

Contrary to the situation in other countries, contemporary art in Denmark still has to justify its existence. Due to this, we have seen an increase in alternative exhibition spaces.

alt_cph wishes to present its international audience for this alternative art environment. The participants are smaller galleries, exhibition spaces and Internet based forums, which often have non-commercial purposes.

The participants in the Alternative Art Fair have been chosen to ensure that the audience is given an overview of all the tendencies to be found on the alternative art scene.

alt_cph actively contributes to the discussion of the role of contemporary art in society. By visiting the Art Fair you will participate in this discussion.
