Lisa Baraitser (UK)

Lisa Baraitser (b.1967, UK) is a professor of Psychosocial Theory at Birkbeck, University of London, UK. She hold degrees in Medical Science and Psychology (BSc., Hons), Counselling and Psychotherapy (MA), and Psychology (PhD). Baraitsers research focuses on gender and sexuality, motherhood, the maternal, and temporality, drawing on feminist theory, psychoanalysis, and philosophies of ethics, affect, and event. Baraitser runs an international interdisciplinary research network – Mapping Maternal Subjectivities, Identities and Ethics (MaMSIE). The network organises events and publishes an open access journal, Studies in the Maternal. Baraitser has also published books like Maternal Encounters: The Ethics of Interruption (2009) and Enduring Time (2017).
