Maya Sialuk Jacobsen (DK/GL)

Maya Sialuk Jacobsen (b. 1969, Greenland) is a traditional Inuit tattoo artist, private researcher in Inuit culture, educator and lecturer. With almost 20 years of experience within the trade of tattooing, she is also the founder and director of the tattoo research project Inuit Tattoo Tradition, based in Greenland. Jacobsen has travelled extensively in the Inuit areas of Greenland, Canada and Alaska and has educated several women (Inupiaq og Yupik) in Inuit tattoo practises and pattern knowledge in collaboration with the Anchorage Museum, Alaska. Jacobsen also researches and works with cultural preservation with Nunatta Katersugaasivia/Greenland National Museum, Nuuk.
